Eyelash extension adhesive performs best when it is fresh and unaffected by external elements such as heat and oxygen. Here are our top tips on how to store and handle your adhesive for the best performance.
1. Avoid very high temperatures
If you can, avoid ordering adhesive in the very hot months over Summer. Lash adhesive will spoil if exposed to high temperatures in post boxes and delivery vans. If you are able, purchase adhesive prior to the hottest time of year and store for future use within 6 months.
2. Store in the refrigerator
Storing unopened adhesive in the refrigerator will extend the adhesive's shelf life from 6 to 8 months. Ensure the fridge is in good working order, with no broken seals.
3. Allow to return to room temperature before opening
Opening a cold bottle of adhesive may cause condensation to form inside the bottle, which will make it spoil. Allow the bottle to return to room temperature before opening.
4. Store in an airtight container
As soon as the adhesive is exposed to oxygen by opening, it will begin to break down. To delay this process as much as possible, store upright in an airtight container or bag (we love our CACHE Adhesive Storage Container). You can include dry rice or silica gel beads, or packets of silica gel to further absorb any moisture. Do not place an opened bottle back in the fridge
5. Discard after 4 weeks
Following these steps will keep your adhesive as fresh as possible for up to 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, discard any remaining adhesive and open a fresh bottle for optimum results.
Storage instructions may differ between adhesive manufacturers. Check with your supplier for specific storage instructions.
